North West Friends

This page contains brief profiles of North West Forum Friends.

Phil.B - I am 35 years of age and I live with my partner and our two children in Accrington, Lancashire. I am employed as a Rubber Roller Machinist for a small local company.
Having watched Time Team from the very first episode my archaeological background has been pretty much armchair based for the majority of it's existence. However, I did get some 'hands-on' experience with York Archaeological Trust in the early 1990's - when I was single and wealthy!!
My main historical interest I would have to say lies with the Romans, although the Bronze Age right through to the Vikings also has a bit of a soft spot. I also have a passing interest in Church Architecture, don't ask me why, I just think churches are very photogenic for some reason.
Other than Archaeology my main interests are Fell-Walking / Rambling and Photography. Oh and playing around on the computer!
Piccy is of me in West Kennet Long Barrow and was taken by stonehenge100.

fish - I am 28 years old and live in Runcorn in Cheshire and work for my parents in our garden centre.
I strayed across Time Team some time in the first series and have been pretty much hooked since. I do my archaeology from the safety of my living room, as, through work, I spend quite enough time covered in mud as it is.
My favourite period of history is whatever I happen to have referenced last, but pre-history intrigues me, and I was traumatised by studying the Romans at high school. (But I can draw you a lovely cross section of a Roman road, if pressed.)
Other interests include, reading (pretty much anything), painting, gardening (despite, or possibly because of my job), playing with my digital camera and invading various counties of the UK in the company of assorted TTFF.
All of these activities have been known to overlap from time to time.

Humus - I am a 40 year old male, living nr Maghull, north Liverpool.
I have also watched Time Team since the first episode but only found the Forum in late 2002. I am also an armchair Archaeologist and have never had the opportunity to go on a dig. I trained in Motor vehicle mechanics (heavy & light) & Motor vehicle restoration gaining lot's of bit's of paper along the way.
My interest's are vast & varied, I am interested in Classic car's, lorrys, planes, ships and tanks. You can also add Industrial machinery and steam trains and other steam vehicles.
I have done a few exams in Photography (gaining more bit's of paper) and like real Ale (no I haven't got a beer gut & beard), History, gardening and Bonsai. In music, Blues, Detroit soul, jazz and Classics (except Country & Western, rap, garage etc...)
There's also Astronomy, interesting buildings, Castles, bridges, Ju-Jitsu, anything old made in Japan, Japanese History, Strategy computer games.
Books eg. Roman detective, Bernard Cornwell, Spike Milligan's war Diary's. Food eg. chinese, Indian and Italian. Country walking, Rambling, hill walking, scrambling, wild camping (no I haven't got red socks & plus fours) and much much more.

Sue Hurd - I am a 28 year old legal secretary, working in Widnes and living in Warrington, although I am originally from Liverpool.
I have been interested in history since being a small child and was blessed with very enthusiastic parents who encouraged an enquiring mind. I can’t really pinpoint one area of history that I prefer. Although the English Civil War would probably be it, Saxon times up to late Victorian also tend to catch my eye.
Apart from history I like swimming and playing tennis, meeting up with friends and reading, gardening (though terrible at it which is a shame with my family being from farming and gardening backgrounds) and even a bit of home improvements (but again not very good at this but I do try). Also get very intrigued with every science topic that I can think of and like reading up on quantum physics (I am not as boring as I sound, honestly!!)
