St.Columba's, Hall I Th Wood. (GR728116) Tower.
| The first church I visited on route 2 was a disappointment. Another brick built modernist that looked more like a community centre/sports hall than a church. The tower would look more at home on a fire station! No notice board or such ilk to say what this particular church was even called - found out from a lady who was just entering. | ||||||
Christ Church, Walshaw. (GR777115) Steeple.
| A large building which had some very nice features, especially the bank of windows on the North elevation. | ||||||
St.Mary the Virgin, Bury Parish Church. (GR804108) Spire.
| Very large building in the centre of Bury. Limited photo points. Maybe a return visit at a quiet time would be merited. | ||||||
St.Marie's, Bury. (GR803106) Tower.
| Although surrounded by other buildings that hardly gave it any room at all, St Marie's still managed to exude a certain aura. A lovely little church. | ||||||
Parish Church of Christ in Cockey otherwise Ainsworth. (GR763102) Tower.
| A wonderful name for a wonderful little church. Set slightly back from the road this little gem could be easily missed by those passing by. Apparently in existance since 1515. | ||||||
Christ Church, Parish Church of Harwood. (GR748110) Spire.
| Another of those buildings that look the part but at the same time aren't really all that original. I'm sure during the course of this project there will be many that will come into this category. | ||||||
All Saints, Elton, Bury. (GR794111) Tower.
| A lovely looking Church building - currently undergoing conversion into 13 exclusive and individually designed apartments. All one can say is at least the building survives. | ||||||
